Muzhappilangad

This beach is the longest Drive-In Beach in Asia and is featured among the top 6 best beaches for driving in the world in BBC article for Autos. Muzhappilangad is the only Asian beach featured in the list. Even though Goa has many beautiful beaches, it does not have a Drive-in beach. It is considered as the longest drive-in beach in Asia.The beach festival is celebrated in the month of April and it is one of the important tourist attraction in the district of Kannur in Kerala.

Aaralam

Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary is the northernmost wildlife sanctuary of Kerala, southwest India. It is 55 km2 (21 sq mi) in area and located on the western slope of the Western Ghats. It was established in 1984. The headquarters of the sanctuary is near Iritty.The sanctuary area falls in Aralam, Kelakam and Kottiyoor revenue villages and is located in the northwest slopes of Western Ghats contiguous with the forests of Coorg (Kodagu) district of Karnataka state.

Thodeekkalam Temple

Thodeekalam Siva temple, situated 2 kms from Kannavam in Thalassery of Kannur district, is supposed to be more than 2000 years old. It is revered for its mural paintings. These paintings were made using only natural colours. They depict the famous Shaiva-Vaishnavite epic tales and are assumed to have been drawn by Tamil nomads during the 14th and 15th centuries. The main deity of this temple is Lord Siva, known by the name of “Perumal”.

Thalassery Fort

Thalassery Fort stands tall in Thalassery’s fast-changing townscape. In 1683 CE, when the English East India Company started trading in Malabar, it built a factory at Thalassery and fortified it in 1708 CE. Hence, it was used for trade purposes in the initial years. Later it became a military base and administrative centre for British rule in India. An underground chamber of the fort is said to have been used to conduct many meetings.

Peralassery Temple

The temple pond is a source of wonder for all devotees, and taking a dip is considered sacred. This rectangular pond has an impressive architecture with countless steps leading into the pool from all the four sides. The local belief is that on the day of Thulam Sankramam, water from the Cauvery will reach the well of temple pond. This temple, renowned for its architectural splendour and legends, is a must-visit destination.

Kottiyoor Temple

Kottiyoor Siva temples, an ancient pilgrimage destination in North Kerala, is situated in the peaceful hilly area of the Western Ghats. On the opposite banks of the Bavali River situate two temples, Akkare Kottiyoor and Ikkare Kottiyoor. Akkare Kottiyoor opens only for twenty-eight days during Vaishakhamahotsavam - the annual festival of the temple, which falls in the months of May-June. During that time, Ikkare Kottiyoor remains closed.

Mridanga Shaileshwari Temple

This is one of the most famous shrines dedicated to Goddess Durga in Kerala. Situated at Muzhakkunu in Kannur district, the Goddess here is believed to have two forms – Mridangaleswari and Sreeporkali.Popular lore suggests that long ago, a Mridanga, a percussion instrument, fell on this spot from the heavens. Thus this site got the name 'Mridangashaila Nilayam' which means, the place where the Mridanga fell. Later on, it also came to be known as Muzhakkunnu.

Parassinikadavu Temple

Parassinikadavu Sri Muthappan Temple or Parassini Madappura Sree Muthappan Temple, which lies on the banks of the Valapattanam River, attracts people from all sections of the society, irrespective of religion or caste, to the district of Kannur. One of the interesting facts is that here dogs are considered to be sacred as it’s the vehicle of Lord Muthappan. One of the most sacred pilgrim sites in north Kerala, the temple provides free meals and accommodation to all visitors. The devotees are given boiled black beans and tea as Prasadam (devotional offering).

Snake Park

The park houses a variety of snakes and other small animals, including the Spectacled cobra, King Cobra, Russell's viper, Krait and various pit vipers. There is also a large collection of non-venomous snakes including pythons. The park is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of snakes, many species of which are gradually becoming extinct. In a live show, trained personnel play and 'interact' with a variety of snakes, including cobras and vipers, and try to quell mythical fears and superstitions about snakes.
